ok rather than bore the pants off everyone on the Member Profiles I've started uploading my holiday photos here they seem to be appearing "backwards" (ie the latest ones at the start) which I'm sure I can sort out later(?) and I've not added the descriptions yet. Most are probably quite boring and irrelevant but I hope once I've got them on properly to be able to share with my family too (hence them all going on).

This is only the first 27 (only another 280 or so to go LOL). If you're wondering who/what something is just ask .

I'll bump this thread to let (nosey) people know when I've added more.

great I shall look forward to seeing them.

Did you have a wonderful time?

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 04/09/2006 09:52

CF - we were allowed one (small) piece of handluggage each - nothing containing/that could contain liquids/gels etc was allowed through security but for non-US flights we were still allowed to buy those things once through security and take them on.

MrsFio · 04/09/2006 16:29

expatinscotland · 04/09/2006 16:30

I'm liking it! Looks a lovely place!

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 04/09/2006 16:35

zippi - that's almost certainly the only pink Cadilac (sp) in Zimbabwe - the guy who owns it (the white guy Fio) is a friend that we both used to work with. He lives in a room in one of the school hostels and as most of the gap students (which I was when I went out there) also lived ont he school grounds he used to take them 'under his wing'. Copious amounts of (very) cheap local wine were consumed on his balcony and many a fantastic BBQ out near where the pink car is parked.

He's also the one standing enarly the purple/grey car (it's a Mark 9 Jag - the one I used for my wedding )

ahhhhhh! He looked like he could be your father!!!

They are lovely kids. Did your boys enjoy it all? and the family love seeing them?

fairyfly · 04/09/2006 16:40

What gorgeous children!

Glad you had a good time.

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 04/09/2006 16:41

he's a similar age to my dad. I guess he was a the 'surrogate' Father for all of us British teenagers out there. Very eccentric, but a lovely guy (he let me use the car for FREE for the whole day as my wedding present )

Wow, your boys are gorgeous!

How many years is it since you were last there? Have things changed much?

laneydaye · 04/09/2006 16:44

your kids are beautiful gwenick....... fantastic pics thanks for sharing them..xx

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 04/09/2006 16:46

sorry if I'm slow answering your questions - in the process of uploading some more piccies (got over 300 to do!). My dad is also going to be looking at them and as they helped fund the trip (first since we left in April 2000 - to answer the question) I promised I do them ASAP.

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 09/09/2006 21:30

have to say it's taking me ages though......as I'm letting photobucket resize the pictures for me because I'm too lazy to reduce the sizes before uploading

Where else did you go? Just a thought but you don't have any friends/relatives in Marondera do you? I'm saving up to take my girls out to Zim in a couple of years - dd3s godparents are in Bulawayo.

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 09/09/2006 21:37

We spent most of the time Harare, but spent a few nights in Gweru with his Dad, a couple of nights in Vic Falls, 1 night at the Hwange Safari Ldoge (paradise on earth - a really posh Lodge ), and then went up to Kutama (Mugabe's home village!) for one day to see an Aunt and out towards Marondera to his Dad's village - out in the Hwedza district.......which this thread comes into play.......it's Hwedza District Chieftainship his dad is hoping to get.
