turn your mattress?

Sorry, boring question I know but we have just bought a new mattress and was told that we had to turn it once a week I dont even change the bed that often

I try and remember to do it about once a month. I always move top to bottom as well as flipping it over.

I only do it on the rare occasion that DPs around when I'm changing the bedding as I can't do it on my own -probably three times a year?

YOu should flip your mattress every 3-6 months. You should hoover your mattress every week but there is no reason to flip it every week. That is ridiculous. Sales guy sounds a bit confused to me.
