Ha - too late for me - my kids' grandmother already posts on here. Can't slag her off anywhere As if I would!

PinkTulips · 01/09/2006 18:11

lol, dd & ds's grandparents would be in for a shock to see what i say about them on certain threads!

lionheart · 01/09/2006 22:29

All of those MIL threads would have to go.

grandmabet · 02/09/2006 16:21

I think it's a brilliant idea to have a grandparents' slot, and provided the grandmother doesn't know your nickname, I think it could be quite illuminating. In fact, unbeknown to you, your mil could be a member and might be slagging you off. I must say that when I have time I find it quite fascinating to read the various comments from young mums and have often wanted to respond. How much better to be able to commiserate with other grans. So come on, enrol your mothers and mils so we can have a good old slanging match (wanted to put a big grin here but not sure how to do it!)

Joolstoo · 02/09/2006 16:26

I've been here for yonks!

My mum wouldn't know how to switch a computer on let alone join MN!
My MIL, on the other hand, is another matter. Shes always on her computer. I cringe everytime DP refers to mumsnet in front of her (stuff like "What did it say on MN about...?" ) as I'm convinced she'll look the site up one day and then, through curiosity, try and find my posts.

grandmarosebud · 05/09/2006 18:41

Hello! I'm a grandma and have just joined.

TheRealCam · 05/09/2006 19:12

I'm a fully paid-up member of this club with 2 to my name

Wonder who asked for this topic?

I'm expecting it to be the smallest (and most select) clique on mumsnet

Squirrel3 · 07/09/2006 09:27

Hello, great to see a Grandparents topic.

I've got two grandchildren, a grandaughter aged 14months and a grandson who is five today!, he also starts school today so he is very excited!

MMmmmmm, wonder how long the being excited about school will last?

NomDePlume · 07/09/2006 09:29

Lol random, I can see the impatience is kicking in too, hence the double post!

How old are your grandkids?

random · 11/09/2006 16:56

Hi Squirrel, In my eagerness to show off my computer skills I double posted My grandkids are 3 and 19 months .

grandmabet · 11/09/2006 17:03

Hi there all you grans (and grandpas!)

I have 8 grandchildren and have a question to pose. One of my children "borrows" our house for 2 weeks in August with her 4 children, husband and nanny. We are of course happy to let her do this but do you think it right that a) they don't pay anything for fuel, wear and tear, etc and b) allow their kids (and those of their friends) to run riot and generally trash the place? I was flattered when one of her friends said what a lovely, child friendly house it was but I don't think this should mean they can treat it like a doss house. What do you think, am I being unreasonable?

TheRealCam · 11/09/2006 18:15

I've got a self-contained annexe that I let to holiday makers in the summer and have let various members of my family use. I don't "charge" them anything as such but they have always offered to pay for fuel (which I graciously accept) and always bring me wine, flowers and chocolates.
If I'm around as well they usually take us out for a meal and take my 9 year old dd out on day trips. etc.

However in your circumstances, I would not be happy.
