Kids, you know it's gonna happen.
The odd treat of havign tea in front of a DVD and the spillages (stopped that now)
spilt milk
baby sick
last weeks leaking nappy (don't evn go there it was SOOOOOO bad!)
Just general kids ghastly ompska.

So hired a carpet cleaner. Worked up a sweat you know, well DP did. That was yesterday. Cut to today.

GROSS. It smells of wet dog in there.
I mean it was a bit stale milky before in patches.
But now. Oh MY GOD
What have we done?
It f'ing reeks of wet dog man, and I have Charlottes new teacher at her big school coming for a home visit tomorrow. Sparayed it with Comfort stuff like a mad woman.
Gonna have to buy a new carpet, not in time for tomorrow obviously, unfortunatley.

Kids man, why do we have them again???????????????

lol
Amruthless about food aznd drink anywhere but kitchen for this very reason.
Hope you have learnt your lesson.

Thomcat · 31/08/2006 23:34

Mate, learnt the food lesson, hard, a while ago.
But baby sick and leaking nappies, not so easy to control.

Oh and we went camping for 5 days and the last thing I said to DP was make sure the cats out and guess what he didn't do!

OPh man.

But it smells so much worse now we've cleaned it.

Oh God.
Yes,artificial fragrances layered with cat shit and sick.
Not good.
Can't you wash it outside then leave in fresh air to dry??

waterfalls · 31/08/2006 23:41

It will smell better when it is dry, turn off all radiators, exept the living room, have it on maximum all night. it should be dry by the morning, but the room will smell bad until you open the windows, and hope there are strong winds in the morning.

Thomcat · 31/08/2006 23:42

What my whole carpet!! I don't think so but thanks for trying to help! LOL.
Think it's a new carpet and I just won't be able to let the teacher in there tomorrow!

OP posts:
HyacinthB · 31/08/2006 23:43

Open all windows? - I guess you've done that...

Thomcat · 31/08/2006 23:44

So it might get better?
Will try the radiator thing then.

OP posts:
HyacinthB · 31/08/2006 23:46

Yes it doesn't smell post cleaning for long....

waterfalls · 31/08/2006 23:47

HyacinthB
I meant she cant leave the windows open through the night, (mind you, someone might steal the carpet and do you a favour)plus pointless having radiator on to dry carpet with the windows open.

fattiemumma · 31/08/2006 23:47

its probably because whilst cleaning it the warm water has disrupted all those horrid manky smells....coupled with the smell of just damp i imagine its pretty rank.

hopefully it will be nice and sunny tomorrow and you can take the teacher outside and have a cup of tea in the garden.

NotAnOtter · 31/08/2006 23:50

sorry but lol this thread made me laugh!

Thomcat · 31/08/2006 23:50

Yes been airing it but have been out all day and don't want to leave them open while we're in bed.

Yeah, let's hope it's sunny, my patio just cost me nearly £4k and I haven't been out there since it was finished as it hasn't stopped raining!

isn't life just a bitch sometimes

OP posts:
Thomcat · 31/08/2006 23:52

I think it's a bit funny too, but at the same time it stinks!

OP posts:
NotAnOtter · 31/08/2006 23:54

you need to steer charlottes teacher speedily past the reeking -room to the patio set!!!

Thomcat · 31/08/2006 23:56

I might just take her straight round the side gate!!!!

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 31/08/2006 23:57

only way

poor you

Thomcat · 31/08/2006 23:58

Wood everywhere else down here, but think you might have a point CD.

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 01/09/2006 00:01

we have whole ground floor in wood, TC you know you must...

HyacinthB · 01/09/2006 00:08

We're just about to do that (baulking a bit at the expense......)

SparklyGothKat · 01/09/2006 00:10

I have the whole ground floor in wood and washable flooring too. I also brought a leather sofa, because my last one stank. I also have imposed a 'no eating in the living room' ban.

threelittlebabies · 01/09/2006 00:22

We have done this, shampooed carpet with some contraption called the "Rug Doctor".
IME Eau de wet dog should subside soon

CountessDracula · 01/09/2006 11:20

(I love the smell of a wet dog myself, but I prefer it if it comes from the dog not the carpet)
