Dilema regarding car seats

dd is in a rear facing car seat still, she is 19lb 9ozs but is quite tall, her head is coming over the car seat alot now and i know thats not good, my problem is that mothercare don't recommend a forward facing seat till they are 20lbs+. Has anyone else had this kind of problem, i'm desperately trying to fatten her up she is 14mths as well. Should I get medical advice (and I know that sounds daft) but I think she really should be in a ff seat now

are her eyes level with the back of the seat?

TheLadyVanishes · 31/08/2006 19:02

sorry do you mean the seat she is in or the actual seat of the car

sounds a bit odd as my dd went into a ff seat when she was 10 months cause she was the weight she needed to be and it certainly wasn't 20lbs, are you sure thats right

TheLadyVanishes · 31/08/2006 19:04

maybe its just mothercares recommendation then and other places do fit

Could you get a seat that can be used rear and forward facing? I think we have a Britax first class that can be used from birth then faces forward when baby is the right age and weight. At least you'd know she wasn't too small for it! i don't think it was much more expensive than other options, although we actually never used it in the rear position.

(AFAIK, the 20lb guideline is correct but I could be wrong)Try looking at the Britax website

20lb/9kg minimum is right but you can have her rearwards until her ears are level with the top of the back I think (do check your instructions though)

For the sake of 7 oz i think you could put her in a ff seat
