Help! 18m old going nuts from red food colouring

My normally quiet little boy is shouting his head off and bashing toys about like a nutter. Can only attribute it to the red food colouring I put in a cake we made this afternoon and both kids had at teatime. Any idea what I can do or how long it will take to calm him down? Anyone else had similar experience with Supercook Red?

Seems to have stopped shouting now but still interested in other people's food colouring tales.

no recent experience but my little sister was one of the first childen diagnosed with a sensitivity to colourings like E102 and E110 - this was years ago so we had weird white ice cream and white custard etc.
Symptoms were a lot like your DS's - the hyperactivity generally ended in injury and/or tears...

White icing next time, eh?
