Hi

Have any mums or dads got any tips for taking my DS swimming for the first time? e.g. what to put him in (swim nappies plus little trunks?) and do I need one of those baby float things?

Any tips much appreciated.

How old is he? A swim nappy on its own is fine.

I first took DD when she was 3 months old and put her in a floaty seat. The problem with that was she got really cold so I ended up taking her out and holding her, bouncy her up and down in the water.

Thanks- he is 6 months old. Will probably try without floaty seat for first time just to see how we get on.

I am taking my 4 month old daughter swimming for the first time tomorrow. I'll be taking my sister with me for moral support! Bit nervous, any tips anyone. Already read the one about the float, good point about being cold. Thanks.

First time I took DS we had one of those float seats and he hated it much prefered to be held in the water. DD first time we just got her baby armbands and she loved it.

Main thing is keep towel to hand for as soon as you get out as little ones get cold very quickly.
