We do.

ocd · 28/08/2006 14:21

fgs it only lasts an hour or so
will you die of hunger?

WideWebWitch · 28/08/2006 14:21

If the spotty 15 yo taking your ticket notices (and I would keep it in my bag tbh) say 'we have allergies' and they won't challenge you.

Flossam · 28/08/2006 14:21

Just sneak it in a clothes shop carrier bag. I'm sure no-one would stop you. I resent cinema prices when I last went about 2 and a half years ago! Have fun.

Saturn74 · 28/08/2006 14:21

Don't think you're supposed to, but we always take a rucksack stuffed with popcorn, drinks and sweets - and save about £20 in those extortionate cinema prices!! No-one's gonna know in the dark when the film's on!

chocybickie · 28/08/2006 14:24

we aren't.
we smuggle food and drinks in my bag.
i've seen people thrown out for bringing food in.
and yes normally people can survive an hour without food but the cinema situation is entirely different.

ocd · 28/08/2006 14:26

you bloaters

expatinscotland · 28/08/2006 14:27

Probably not, but I do. B/c they never have the sweets I want, and their popcorn sucks. I pop my own and put it in my bag.

schnapps · 28/08/2006 14:28

So it is officially not allowed then? We usually smuggle in sweets but tempted to take pringles and dips and stuff. ocd you obviously eat a LOT more than is actually needed in order to prevent yourself from dying of hunger, so what's your point?

The popcorn etc is part of the experience. There are no signs at our Odeon either but their prices are through the roof, if we've got enough time on the way we usually pick up some popcorn and drinks from the supermarket and hide it because I'm never sure if you are allowed to bring your own stuff or not.

expatinscotland · 28/08/2006 14:30

I take Pringles and dips in all the time.

I also take my fav snack: nutella toastie.

If they ever caught me, I'd just pretend I was a tourist who didn't know any better. I do that a lot and it always works.

Plus an hour in front of some really dire kids' film (think Chicken Little) can really test anyone's diet will power!

MissPollyHadaDolly · 28/08/2006 14:30

another smuggler here, too expensive otherwise with 4 children and its one of the few occasions when they are allowed sweets.

cupcakes · 28/08/2006 14:30

I used to like cinema popcorn but recently it has gone downhill - dry and polystyrene like.

ocd · 28/08/2006 14:30

fat lardy bloaaaaaaaaaarters

suzywong · 28/08/2006 14:31

There used to be a very fierce woman on the door of the WB cinema in Wood Green, man she was scary. She barred dh and ds1 from Jungle Book 2 when dh tried to smuggle in a KFC fillet burger.
There were tears

I'm American, and I like hot, buttery popcorn to go w/my movie.

So I just make it at home and take it this soft-sided bag that keeps it hot that my mother brought me.

Fits a whole bag of Paul Newman microwave popcorn.

Mmmm.

I also take my own fizzy juice.

cupcakes · 28/08/2006 14:33

I'm sure they used to make it fresh, but now they just empty giant binbags of it into the vats.

ocd · 28/08/2006 14:34

feeling fat fat fat

expatinscotland · 28/08/2006 14:34

I couldn't agree more, cupcakes. The last time I tried cinema popcorn is was AWFUL. My inner popcorn snob was appalled.

chocybickie · 28/08/2006 14:35

what is it with salty popcorn? that is gross. who eats that stuff?
butterkist toffee popcorn is the only popcorn for us... well me, its all mine.

Saturn74 · 28/08/2006 14:35

They get a bit ticked off if you take your own disposable BBQ in with you though.

Blu · 28/08/2006 14:42

I like to take in a small barbecue and some fresh sardines. Then DP makes a cup of hot chocolate on our camping primus stove. We did cause quite a bit of upset with the portable chocolate fountain, which had a fault of some kind, so now we make do with making our own popcorn in a saucepan on the stove. Delicious!
