Here's the situation:

I pour red wine all over lovely white trousers

I spray vanish all over trouser stains and stick them in machine at 60 degrees

I take trousers out to find all the red wine has gone but there was a new yellow cloth in the machine too and now trousers are fetching lemon colour

I send dh to tesco to buy colour run stuff which amazingly he finds, but it doesn't work with one sachet. I try a 2nd and it doesn't work again.

Trousers are denim with attractive maternity jersey front panel. I like them and I'm running our of clothes that fit. Please help me make them white again.

I'm thinking bleach, but don't knwo how much for how long and don't want to destroy the fabric...

buy the colour run stuff again and use both sachets at same time.
if you want to bleach them, small amount of bleach in cold water.leave for 30 mins or so.

If all else fails you could try dying them a different colour (although the stretch panel might not take the dye I suppose?)

hairymclary · 27/08/2006 21:47

i wouldn't bleach tbh because it can cause yellow staining on some fabrics.
I would dye them

Stick them on the line in strong sunlight

if they are cotton jeans then bleaching should be fine. try ace bleach if you are worried.

alexsmilitantmum · 27/08/2006 21:49

pixiefish-where do you get that then?

tassis · 28/08/2006 13:05

thanks everyone

it's actually sunny here in central scotland so they're on the line and i'll see what happens...

i'm reluctant to dye them because of the jersey panel being such a different fabric from the denim, so may try bleach later.
