Yet another help me choose my wedding reception place

I managed to drag my DP to where my parents live so we could do a final trawl of places to have a wedding reception. And we have narrowed it down to 4 places. We want to book sooner rather than later - its for Oct 2008 but all of the places are fully booked for summer 08 already and apparently when that happens October starts to get booked up. Anyway.

We will have 80 guests all day.

Headlam Hall
-v.v.v.beautiful, its 40 mins from the church but apparently a lot of people go there from the town we are getting married in - we would organise a bus probably, good value, seemed to be able to tailor the wedding exactly to us (ie bacon sarnies at midnight instead of a buffet), only has 1 wedding a day

Judges
-also v.beautiful, very near the church and my parents home, very expensive, large function suite, was our fave until we saw the other 3, only has 1 wedding a day and function suite is private so would not see anyone other than our guests

Hallgarth Hotel
-about 20 minutes from the church? also beautiful, large function room, but no quiet bar area which the other have, good value, lots of charm and very friendly staff, can hold 2 weddings in one day

Hardwick Hall
-about 30 minutes away (again we would hire a coach), has the nicest function rooms, very efficient we know people who have had lovely weddings here, less character and individuality than the rest but the best value, can hold 5 weddings in one day which is a concern but in October she said there would prob only be 2, beautiful setting

Please help. None of my friends have got married so I have no idea how to pick, I want a beautiful, simple chilled out day and I think they would all give us that but I am horrible at making choices and feeling v.overwelhmed.

Love the look of number one too. But I like the idea that Hardwick Hall was once a maternity hospital. Though that's probably not an argument for getting married there.

think i would go for either one ot two. dont think i like the idea of more than one wedding on per day sort of feel like a construction line rather than being personal. Have you though of a week day wedding as that is often better value price wise. we were married on a friday and the difference in price for venues was a surprise.

Do you think it matters than no.1 is 40 minutes away, am terrified of being weird bridezilla forcing everyone to drive for hours!

Definately no1 - the bacon sarnies at midnight swung it for me - and it looks v. classy

redshoes · 26/08/2006 20:06

We did the bus thing too and it was fine - adds another little dimension to the day, even.I like number 1 from the photos.

Smurfgirl · 27/08/2006 12:45

Shameless bump. No.1 is looking popular ;)
