Obsessed with baby's toes?

Help - I think I'm really wierd or going mad. Ever since my ds was born (he's 3 this month) I've been captivated by his FEET! I couldn't stop burying my nose into his little toes - he was premature and only weighed 3lbs. They were my little cherry tomato toes.

But now. I still do it. I normally have a real aversion to feet. I hate them. I hate my own feet, I hate my partners feet and usually do my best not to look at feet when I can help it.

That's why this is really puzzling me. I only have one child and I adore smelling his little feet. Am I a foot fetishist? I feel really stupid posting this question, but I'm obsessing. Even when he's asleep and his feet are all warm, I love gently lifting up the quilt and burying my nose in his feet and taking in a deep breath.

Honestly. I'm not kidding. Am I really wierd? If I am I guess I'll just be too embarrassed to write a message for a while! Any ideas?

Not weird at all - baby's feet are just edible!

IKWYM, Munchkinsugarpie! Their feet are soooo yummy. Mind you, my youngest has always had disgustingly smelly feet, right from a young age. I never knew tinies could have pongy feet, it was a bit of a shock to me! One of my grown up sons now has size 13 feet, so make the most of your DS's tiny tootsies.

Munchkinsugarpie, if you are weird I am weird too.
I love babies feet and know exactly what you mean about being captivated by them. We have photos, paint prints and the next thing is a plastercast of ours feet... I think you are quite normal (but I would say that wouldn't I?)

Munchfeetsugarpie- that's one of the funniest and sweetest posts I've ever seen! Enjoy those gorgeous boyfeet while you can, girlfriend- before you know it they'll be size 11 and cheesy!

Munchkinsugarpie · 13/03/2002 23:09

What a wonderful lot of mums you are! Thank you thank you for writing back - I'm glad youre all wierd too!! Hoho -I can't believe you all love the feet as well - I'm so bloody relieved I can't tell you! His little feet get smelly too and it doesn't put me off in the least! I wonder what it says psychology-wise. I bet Freud would have made something of it - Oh scummymummy, I only hope I grow out of this by the time they're size 11 and seriously cheesy - what if I don't !? Oh gosh ... maybe I'll start a baby foot smelling club - hmmn

Munchkinsugarpie, I am the same, and my ds's are abit wiffy too! I do this pretend game with him where I smell his feet and say 'Poo' and he thinks its hilarious... I've always had a thing about his little (now not so little) feet and even though they smell a bit I always give them a kiss goodnight! BTW my hubbys are a size 13 so I am aware this habit has a limited time scale!!

My oldest son, age 7, has the sweetest, plumpest little feet on earth. They are so wide, we suffer agonies over finding shoes that fit. The only nice part about shoe shopping is seeing his feet minus socks. And yes, I still kiss his darling little toes.

Munchkinsugarpie · 14/03/2002 23:53

Jessi- that 'poo' game is SO funny cos we do the same. Except that when he 'discovered' Winnie the Pooh he got confused and added 'bear' when I said Poo! So now when I smell his little toes we both giggle and exclaim, "Poo Bear!" How odd is that!? And Tigermoth - I just love that you unashamedly like seeing your ds's feet 'naked' when he's trying shoes on! Describing them as sweet and plump lets me know just what theylook like, I can imagine them clearly. I'm so glad it's not just me - now I will drown in my ds's little warm toes happily, knowing I'm not the only mad mother in the world. I love babytoes!
