on my shopping till receipt I have been charged twice for an item (typically it is the most expensive) I had the kids with me so was in a hurry and did n't check just noticed now (2days Later) can I go back to the shop or do I chalk it up to experience - if money wasn't so tight I would probably leave it

Go back - this happened to me and they refunded the money.

No take it back and explain, they shouldn't give you any probs. Its happened to me before....although I can't use having kids with me as an excuse!!!!!

I've been back before and they never query it, they just refund it
Go to customer services and show them the receipt and they just reimburse you

Infact, I have considered getting two bottles of gin....

Go back cos the worst they can do is say no and then at least you've tried.

IT depends on the shop staff tbh. At the couple of shops I've worked in, we would do it as long as the person wasn't screaming and shouting and we thought they were probably genuine.

If the returns/till person says no ask to see the manager, they usually (IME) are much more willing to do this type of thing.

Oooh just thought - can you phone up b4 hand and ask them - sometimes makes things go a little easier. Phone number is often on reciept.
