unpacking , ironing the unpacked clothes (ugh) and buying things for dd's first day at school on Saturday. My excuse is she has scarlet fever so I'm trapped at home.

No excuse for not unpacking though...

EvesMama · 23/08/2006 14:42

poor dd with scarlet fever..but school on saturday??where are you?

Folding clothes because the tumble drier stopped, some time ago (as in, I'll just sit at the computer til the drier stops). And I promised the kids I'd make chocolate cake, and I was supposed to declutter for Flylady......

EvesMama,
we're in Berlin, Germany. School started on Monday but first years (aged around 6) start on Saturday. I'm not too sure what to expect but I have the impression they go about it nicely here. We go in for a short ceremony at 10 on Saturday and then the children go off to their classrooms for an hour or so, open up these huge cones full of sweets and toys which you give them. After that you have a party or go to a restaurant I've been told. Ordinarily they don't have lessons on Saturdays any more, it's just a special thing for the first day of school.

Thankfully we went to the doctor today and got some antibiotics so she'll be ok for Saturday.

This thread shamed me into UNPACKING my suitcase! I wonder if I'll get round to actually ironing things as well. Thanks for prodding me along

[MiloMummy rolls eyes in sarcastic manner]

nikkie · 23/08/2006 20:32

All my housework
in my defence I've not been well and am exhausted today and still had to look after 2 kids/2 grandparents a dog and a tortoise!

saltire · 23/08/2006 20:34

Watching the Hearts v Athens game for DH, so i can text him the result , he's at a meeting. I should be watching, if only to see Craig gordon!
However i am fascinated by Northener's fascinator!

Turquoise · 23/08/2006 20:43

I actually have nothing else I should be doing, as have done housework/ironing - even tidied out cupboards all afternoon and am feeling smug.
Would be watching the telly but it's been commandeered by an 8yo's sleepover (Grease for about the 99th time).
I probably could be reading an improving book or doing pilates or something, but bollox to that- have read Heat and am now looking to catch up on any "kicked-off" threads that I've missed over the last week or two.

gigwig · 23/08/2006 21:20

mimi1uk · 24/08/2006 00:16

wished i could sleep and log off here

Runnerbean · 24/08/2006 02:38

Chronic insomnia!
Chronic tinnitis!
Wish I could sleep.

BudaBabe · 24/08/2006 02:45

Wish I could sleep too Runnerbean - was asleep but was woken by a bloody mosquito biting me. Have problems getting back to sleep.

Off to spare room in a min as DH now snoring!

Also have sore throat and runny nose. Bah!

fussymummy · 24/08/2006 02:48

I can't sleep either.
Wish i could just switch off, and wake up refreshed in the morning.
Can't remember the last time that happened.

Runnerbean · 24/08/2006 03:00

At least I've been able to catch up with all my emails, guilt free, without child/children hanging off neck!
No guilt about neglecting housework/hubby either!

I could make this a regular thing!

fussymummy · 24/08/2006 03:05

I quite often do, but when its time to get up i'm knakered!!!!

Theres not many people on at this silly time of day!!!!!

JackieNo · 24/08/2006 03:19

Supposed to be sleeping. Am instead on here and coughing away. V annoying.

SSSandy · 24/08/2006 08:01

Thanks for that Pinktulip. Went to a parent-teacher evening last night and we were told what to do and what to expect on Saturday. Sounds like they go to a lot of trouble to make the first day of school special. Dd is VERY excited already. Takes a long time to fill up that cone though... it's nearly as big as she is and she is tall!

UselessMum · 24/08/2006 08:35

chores I suppose, or shower, or looking after dd, or take the dog out.

take your pick

1Baby1Bump · 24/08/2006 08:36

same as useless mum, but wont move as i need advice on my noise this morning!!
please see my thread!!

hulababy · 24/08/2006 08:43
