me, my dp and 2 ds are planning to go to York at Easter. We are planning an overnight stay, just one night as ds2 has never been away before and is worried about it. I have just checked out a website for york and some of their bed and breakfasts but i don't know what sort of room we need. Is it double, twin or what?
Does anyone have any recommendations?

Linzoid - your best bet is a "family room", many small B&Bs won't have one though. You'll probably have to phone around to find out. A good alternative is a Travel Lodge - they sleep up to 4 + baby in cot.

Also, check on parking - it's a bit of a nightmare in York, and many B&Bs and hotels don't provide parking. You may well be better off staying out of town and going in on the Park n Ride service, which is very good.

I love York - hope you have a great time.

PS I think Popsy, Hula and people were planning a meet-up in York at Easter .. you may coincide with them?!

linzoid, the TravelLodge in York is central, and I think new and extra luxurious (compared to some of the sheds I have stayed in on my travels). But it gets very booked up.
An alternative for you is the Youth Hostel which is a short walk along the river into the centre. They have family rooms and it's also a new-build hostel. You have to join the YHA but that's not too expensive and it could get you started on a lifetime's habit...
I don't think it's a daft question. Hotels and B & Bs offer all sorts of room combinations and it's always worth asking, even if they don't have "family rooms" listed in their details.

Blue Bridge Hotel
Novotel
Hilton
Queens Hotel
Saxon House Hotel

They all have family rooms but probably expensive and availability might be an issue at Easter.

This is the York Youth Hotel (not Hostel) - I don't think the photograph is the hotel!

This is the site it came from, there are a few B&Bs here.

Moat House Hotels are doing great deals over easter. York Moat House is £37.50 pppn B&B. Rack Rate is about £100 so this is a great deal. Go to moathouse.com and enter postcardbb in teh corporate ID box.
