dh hands are still a tad shakey after his stroke, but he does his own meds. but he seems to drop one or 2 a night. so i end up scabbling about looking for a tiny pill. [sigh]

Can't you get him to see that this is one thing that (although he wants to do for himself) needs to be done as safely as possible (due to your darling 3 girls) and could he let you sort them out for him?

Would something like this be helpful? If that is it is narrow enough to fit into your locked cabinets.

You could lable each compartment according to what was in it, so that at least he wouldn't have to fiddle with blister packs but just pick out the tablet from the compartment when he prepares his doses.

My parents also take cocktails every day, and whenever I visit I spend some time crawling around on the kitchen floor picking up the ones they've dropped before my LOs can get to them. At least Peter knows he'd dropped and what, and calls you. My parents deny dropping anything, and it really scares me. They generally prepare a week's worth of doses in little cups that they stack one into the next - in theory nothing spills - so that each day they just pick up one of their cups and take what's in it. I've bought them many dispenser/storage things, but as they 'never spill anything' they won't use them unless they're going out to friends and don't want to look shabby with pills tied up in a twist of kitchen roll (their usual tactic for taking pills with them when they go out).
