Sons just came home from a lovely afternoon out with one of their friends. I asked them what they'd been up to and D said "Oh it was great. We went to a really old fair. It was from the twentieth century!"

Oh no! They'll be asking you about "the olden days" next.

Mercy · 18/08/2006 20:03

Nooooo!

Reminds me of BB when one of them said something like 'I know all about the 80s - my mum told me!'

Eh, it was only a few years ago fgs - wasn't it?

surprise · 18/08/2006 22:07

One of the mums at DS's preschool was telling me the other day how trendy HER mum is. "Even at age 42 she's still wearing trendy clothes" ... god how old did I feel????

themoon66 · 18/08/2006 22:11

when DD was really little she sat on my knee and said 'tell me about the olden days mummy.. when you had candlelight and telly without colours.'

Blu · 18/08/2006 22:13

LOL.

But surely your boys are from the 20thC themselves?

themoon66 · 18/08/2006 22:18

the first time DD saw a black and white old film on the telly, she rushed to find me, weeping 'the telly's broken, the telly's broken.'

I burned my arm on the helter skelter on Brighton pier not 2 weeks ago, dino. We are the helter skelter skinned arm brigade now.

I burnt my heels going down a slide in an indoor play centre last week, as I didn't have any socks on. Does that mean I can join the clique, as long as it's expanded to "sore from sliding"?

ScummyMummy · 19/08/2006 12:01

Woo- hoo, emsiewill! The clique expands to 3. Might have to start a thread to see if anyone else qualifies- we need to know!

OP posts:
emsiewill · 19/08/2006 12:13

I don't think I've ever been in a clique before. It's very exciting.

noonar · 19/08/2006 12:45

i brike my brother's leg when 1 was 10 , when i fell off off a rope swing onto his leg. sadly, i do not meet clique's entry criteria as it was a) not me who was injured and b)a swing not a slide.

i do suddenly feel old though. i felt especially old, at 34, when i started to watch Big Brother and realised that i was old enough to have given birth to some of the housemates.!

noonar · 19/08/2006 12:45

brike? i meant BROKE, of course.

it's not v exciting I'm afraid- just a link to the thread, which you now have anyway... Still- to think that we are the guardians of our very own slide injury clique. I was v pleased too! Love mumsnet for finding out this sort of stuff- there honestly seem to be about 20 people with genuine slide related injuries- a lot of them with the added virtue of being hilarious. And you always think you're alone with these things...
