Can't believe this really but the fact that my tummy is flipping all over the place and I feel a bit sick tells me it's true!!

I got home last night to a message from the Down Syndrome Association (the DSA) and she was saying that she'd seen the article in Eve etc etc and then she just said that GMTV had phoned her and would like me to go on with Lottie and talk to Lorraine Kelly!!!!

Ohhh, my stomach just did another somersault!

It's crazy!

Feel absolutley terrified but I have to do it, how can I not. This is what I wanted, awareness to be raised, and I just have to do it if it's being offered to me, don't I?

Anyway, can't talk about it anymore becasue I feel sick!!! Just wanted to tell you about it.

TC xx

Thomcat, I've been on with Lorraine myself before and she really is terribly nice and kind and will absolutely LOVE Lottie. She's also a seasoned pro and will guide the conversation so you won't have to worry about anything. Just look at her, talk normally and it will be brilliant, I promise.
You will have your hair and makeup done and it will look trowelled on, but you'll look lovely on camera - I always took along my own lipgloss though. I have worn black on tv (suit with white t-shirt) and was pleased with how I looked - my hair was quite blonde then though which helped. However, the producers usually prefer you to wear colour. Black trousers, boots and a shirt or sleeved t-shirt in a colour will look good - any colour will do. And you'll have Lottie on your lap anyway to add a bit of sunshine
It is totally normal to be contacted at short notice. They only plan the show the day before normally, I promise you. And if they want to follow something up they will want to do it instantly. It's really not unusual.
Relax, take a deep breath and you will so busy chatting to Lorraine and cuddling Lottie you won't feel too nervous once you start. And it will be over in a flash! I'm delighted you are going on - you star you! Really pleased. I will definitely, definitely be watching. BTW ask them to send a car for you, and for a fee. They can and do pay (or did in the past) - not much, but worth having and you might want to give it to charity of have it for Lottie.

marthamoo · 16/03/2004 16:49

I've rung my Mum and told her too. She is thrilled - she loves Lorraine Kelly and I showed her the Eve article and she sobbed her socks off and said how lovely you were

I don't think it matters too much what you wear - everyone will be too jealous of your gorgeous shiny hair to notice

aloha · 16/03/2004 16:50

You can also ask in advance what questions Lorraine is likely to ask so you can have a sensible answer ready.

lou33 · 16/03/2004 16:51

Don't forget to plug the support group on mumsnet you have .

Do you thikn if you say enough product names of things you like they will send you some freebies?

hana · 16/03/2004 17:00

Thomcat, I read the article in the Standard last night. I loved your last line, lots of tears for me, such beautiful words and a beautiful litte girl. I'll be watching you on Monday, best of luck with it all
hana

lou33 · 16/03/2004 17:16

Is the article online in the standard's website?

bunny2 · 16/03/2004 20:20

Is it tomorrow????

sis · 16/03/2004 20:32

This is great news Thomcat, I'll have to remember to set the video for next week - if you run out of stuff to say, maybe worth mentioning your mum's brilliant one woman campaign with marketing depts and ad agencies?. all the best for the show!

Hulababy · 16/03/2004 20:39

So Monday morning then? Wow! That is fantastic TC. I will have to get someone to set the video (ours doesn't record properly) to watch this as having to go and collect in-laws from airport, but don't want to miss it.

Will anyone be videoing it that I could borrow from them? Please!

stupidgirl · 16/03/2004 20:45

Oh, how fab I agree, there's bound to be a real strain on the National Grid when we all switch on (unless we compensate by not being at our PCs, of course )

Ronniebaby · 16/03/2004 21:52

Fantastic TC, I'll set my video

willow2 · 16/03/2004 22:27

Brilliant! This is just what you wanted - don't panic, just speak from the heart and you will be fine!

nearlyfour · 16/03/2004 23:33

Thomcat, just wanted to say, good luck and looking forward to seeing you and Lottie, and Dom! on TV although will have to record it as bang in the middle of school run (there will be alot of videoing going on that day!)

I don't post a lot (need to get more confidence) but do read (and have had help from mumsnetters) but have read your story, and think you and your family are truly inspirational, and Lottie is beautiful! Watch out Lorraine is all I will say

tigermoth · 16/03/2004 23:39

I suspect mumsnet talk will be very quiet on Monday morning. Look forward to seeing you, Thomcat and lottie.

loofers · 17/03/2004 08:05

Has anyone found the standard article online I can't seem to find it.

FairyMum · 17/03/2004 08:14

I will record it! Thomcat, I have got a sister with DS and I think you and Lottie are great. A real inspiration and I wish there were more people like you!Good luck on Lorraine. xx

dottee · 17/03/2004 09:32

Good luck - you'll be fantastic!

I'm spreading the word already around here.

Thomcat · 17/03/2004 09:42

What was my life like before mumsnet came into it? what lovely women you all are, so nice to know you'll all be watching and supporting me

Aloha - thanks for all that, in fact this is ALL thanks to you I will ask them if they want to donate to the charities and they are sending a car, in fact asked if I needed 2 if my mum or BF were going to come with me and the car will take us where we need to go after.

I don't think it'll happen Monday as they now don't think they have room on that day. They wanted us Tuesday but I'm at a client meeting near the Cotswolds. Also Dom only started his new job on Monday and his boss hasn't been in so he might not be able to ask. It might not happen??? Although that's just me thinking that and being prepared for them to say that it's not going to work time wise. I will of course keep you updated.

This is fantastic, TC! I will have both video recorders going just to make sure I don't miss it!

Thomcat · 17/03/2004 16:06

The researcher just rang and said that it'll be Wednesday or Thursday next week now. When I know more, you'll know more
