Can't believe this really but the fact that my tummy is flipping all over the place and I feel a bit sick tells me it's true!!

I got home last night to a message from the Down Syndrome Association (the DSA) and she was saying that she'd seen the article in Eve etc etc and then she just said that GMTV had phoned her and would like me to go on with Lottie and talk to Lorraine Kelly!!!!

Ohhh, my stomach just did another somersault!

It's crazy!

Feel absolutley terrified but I have to do it, how can I not. This is what I wanted, awareness to be raised, and I just have to do it if it's being offered to me, don't I?

Anyway, can't talk about it anymore becasue I feel sick!!! Just wanted to tell you about it.

TC xx

Thomcat, this is fantastic. You couldn't ask for better exposure. You & Lottie will be brilliant.
Can't wait too see it. Well done.
Bet your mum's pleased

Fantastic, Thomcat. I will watch. You have nothing to worry about, just be your normal self and you will be perfect. As for Lottie - she could charm the birds out of the trees anyway.

Just stay away from that t**t Eamonn Holmes. I'll never forget seeing him present a feature on how children are given too many sweets which rot their teeth. What did he do to try and quiet the kids in the studio? Yes, you've guessed it, bribe them with sweets!

Lorraine is much better.

collision · 16/03/2004 12:22

What fab news. Am going to get my Mum to tape it for me and send it over. If anyone would like to send me their copy of Eve I would be v grateful so I can read it!

TC that's really exciting - I shall be watching! Does aloha know? I bet she'd be really pleased?

Dare you to mention mumsnet

katierocket · 16/03/2004 12:30

oh and don't forget us when you are rich and famous...

Thomcat · 16/03/2004 12:33

Sobernow - what were you on R&J for, tell all

I will mention Mumsnet becasue it's how the whole interview came about. Aloha and I 'met' on here, the Eve thing happened, then the Evening Standard and now this, so it is all thanks to Mumsnet.

I emailed Aloha this morning so she'll know soon.

Fantastic news Thomcat. I will be watching on Monday too.

Just wanted to say that I saw the article in Eve and ES too and I think its brillant that you are raising DS awareness. Your positiveness and love for Lottie really does shine through.

Wear Pale Pink top - makes your blusher stand out and you look rosy apparently and beautiful and lots fo touche eclait under the eyes and more make up than usual cause otherwise you look drained - ooohhh sure you will look a right stunner.

Can you perhaps make sure it is a Wednesday - easier for me to work from home!!

motherinferior · 16/03/2004 13:41

Yes, don't wear black as you'll look washed out. Blue's a bad idea too, I seem to remember from the days when I told people how to go on TV. Don't do distracting dangly jewellery. Can you get one of your colleagues to give you some TV training tips? You know the score, babe: be direct, be conversational, be passionate - and top tip, if you find yourself getting a bit confused with what you're saying, make sure the end of your sentence makes sense.

Thomcat · 16/03/2004 13:42

Bless you motherinferior

Aloha has my number if you want to give me a ring too, or email me through MN. I just looked for my 'media training' notes and can't find them on this computer (the last one crashed taking everything with it) but I can talk you through if you want!

If you speak anything like the way you write, you'll be splendid.

fairydust · 16/03/2004 15:36

Oh Thom - this is faboulous - i;ve just phonned my mum n gran and told them because they were so inspired to your story.

If this programme makes just one person realise that downs syndrome / special needs children are just that "children" and not a burden then in my eyes your well on your way to doing what you've set out to do.

And remeber even if lottie is a little monkey on the day - that is who she is and i know you & yur dp wouldn't try and change her world and i know she'll do u proud.

All the very best and let us knoe actally times and day.

Love Fairydust. xxx

SenoraPostrophe · 16/03/2004 15:51

How exciting! You'll be great.

It's in a worthwhile cause too - I was quite shocked by the number of people who thought I was mad when I said I would refuse amnioscentesis (didn't come up in the end, but they do the blood test thingies as standard here so I took the time to research it).

I'll be sending my support from Spain anyway.

Thomcat · 16/03/2004 16:02

Thanks MI . wish real life was a nice as life on Mumsnet where everyone is so kind all the time.

lou33 · 16/03/2004 16:40

Tc, why not take an armful or two of the mumsnetter sn kids with you as company for Lottie? That way we can all come and watch from behind the scenes!
