Can't believe this really but the fact that my tummy is flipping all over the place and I feel a bit sick tells me it's true!!

I got home last night to a message from the Down Syndrome Association (the DSA) and she was saying that she'd seen the article in Eve etc etc and then she just said that GMTV had phoned her and would like me to go on with Lottie and talk to Lorraine Kelly!!!!

Ohhh, my stomach just did another somersault!

It's crazy!

Feel absolutley terrified but I have to do it, how can I not. This is what I wanted, awareness to be raised, and I just have to do it if it's being offered to me, don't I?

Anyway, can't talk about it anymore becasue I feel sick!!! Just wanted to tell you about it.

TC xx

Definitely do it TC, Lottie was born to be famous!

Jaybee · 16/03/2004 11:04

Wow - well done. Make sure you tell us when so I can either pull a sickie or remember to video it. Could you not take your mum - from what you have said before I am sure she would relish the opportunity.

suedonim · 16/03/2004 11:04

What an opportunity, TC - and don't forget to record it to show Lottie when she's older! Maybe they want to have you on so soon because you've been in Eve and the ES - striking while the iron is hot and the story is still in people's minds. But not Thursday - I'm getting my hair done at 11am! Good luck.

Ps Won't they tell you beforehand what they're going to ask, so there aren't any surprises?

Janh · 16/03/2004 11:05

TC, I wondered too if your mum could be there with you. But I bet even if she can't, you will be so absorbed in looking at Lottie and talking about her you'll stop being nervous. Just think of all of us sat at home beaming at you and feeling so proud of you - imagine you're just talking to mumsnet!

fio2 · 16/03/2004 11:07

coppertop that IS a good idea, definately worth a mention TC

WideWebWitch · 16/03/2004 11:08

Agree, I'd have thought they'd want you this week tc because of the features. Oooh, let us know what you agree won't you? Janh, no didn't see HIGNFY but imagine LK to be nice. She's got a daughter who's what? 7 yo?

Frenchgirl · 16/03/2004 11:10

well done to you and Lottie Thomcat!!! Just read the article in the Standard, it was brilliant, brought tears to my eyes, because of how much you love her and how positive you are. You are doing such a great job of showing Down's Syndrome in a different, positive light. By the way, do it as soon as you can so you don't have to worry about it for weeks!!! And you'll look fab, you looked beautiful in the standard, and so did Lottie. Congratulations

Thomcat · 16/03/2004 11:32

Thanks girls. I've calmed down and stoped being so silly and scared and started to get back in control. I rang him back just now and said actually I could do this week if he wanted or I could do Monday. He said Monday would be great which will give me time to make sure I have any facts I may need fresh in my head etc.

He also then asked if Dom would be free to come with us.

So looks as if it'll be Monday at about 8.30 ish.
i'll let you know more as he's ringing me back later.

Oh Thomcat, well done!!

I can't wait to see you all now, you are my claim to fame+

SoupDragon · 16/03/2004 11:36

I'll have to video it!!

Coddy · 16/03/2004 11:38

what Are you going to wear?

marthamoo · 16/03/2004 11:40

Oh TC - how exciting!!!! I can say that 'cos it's not me - I would poo my pants

You will be fine, Lottie will be a star and eveyone will adore her. And, like you say, it's all raising awareness of DS and that's brilliant. Monday then? I think that's better than next month, it's enough time to prepare, but not so much time that you'll be nervous for weeks! Lorraine Kelly seems lovely to me - I bet she'll put you at ease. Oooh, it's so exciting, a real-life celeb in our midst

Coddy · 16/03/2004 11:43

slip a ref to MN IN

kando · 16/03/2004 11:43

Great stuff Thomcat!! I watch LK most mornings, so will definately be watching on Monday. I admit to rushing out and buying Eve just for your article, and had a huge lump in my throat just looking at your pictures. I think it's great that you are raising awareness for DS/SN children - when I was younger I used to help out at a "youthclub" for down's kids of all ages, and was always amazed by the gentleness and loving nature of the kids there. Good for you, and can't wait to see you all on Monday!

fio2 · 16/03/2004 11:43

what time slot is LK on then? so I can make sure I dont miss it

CountessDracula · 16/03/2004 11:45

Damn damn missed the standard article. Wow TC you are going to be a star (deservedly so!)

Coddy · 16/03/2004 11:45

clothes tc!!!

Thomcat · 16/03/2004 11:49

Clothes - God knows. something black probably and simple. Black top and trousers.

Time - I think 8.30/ 8.45 ish.

OP posts:
Coddy · 16/03/2004 11:49

not too funereal tho tc - you wanna look simple but BOLD

bundle · 16/03/2004 11:52

try not to wear black, it 'drains' the colour out of your skin. white not good on camera too, nor 'busy' patterns eg checks, they strobe. black trousers would be ok, with a bright top

Janh · 16/03/2004 11:55

Make sure Lottie is wearing the boots!

bloss · 16/03/2004 11:55

Monday is good for me, I 'work' (alegedly) Tue-Thurs so will be on sofa with my feet up.

Clothes? Hmmmmm, no idea. Make sure Lottie wears those gorgeous boots from Eve mag, i have my eye on those.

Congrats!!!

oliveoil · 16/03/2004 11:57
