My combi boiler...... is not working properly....

as ive gotta whacked it on the side for the bar to flame up for the hot water to come out or if i dont whack it... it takes about 5 mins for the bar to flame up

Dp wants to buy a new boiler as we've got a old one and havent got a clue how old it is?? as we moved in here over 3 yrs ago now...

Is it summat simple or will it lead to another problem if fixed as twice now we had to have summat new replaced on the boiler?

and i cant find that "Household Loan" that you can get and only need to pay back so much of it...

hmmm...I'm sure there is a thing you need to do to combi-boilers every so often...but can't remmeber what the hell it is...something to do with a gauge maybe? Dh was muttering about it to a friend the other day...will scramble about in back of my brain to see if i can remember...

I think some need repressurising every couple of months when the pressure drops..there is a key to turn

has the pressure droped... look on the dial and see if its pointing to the red bit. Other than that... are there any plumbers on MN

yes yes yes that's it the pressure thingy, on ours you ahve to turn something...sorry brain scramble wasn't much help!

We had a combi boiler in our last house and needed to keep turning the pressure up to get it to work properly. Having said that, when British Gas came to service it the engineer told me that a micro switch needed to be replaced as they are made of rubber and wear out after a while. HTH

the pressure is fine. As Dp is thinking of getting a brand new boiler cos he reckons that the boiler is on its way out
