Zip together beds anyone?

Hello everyone,

I was reading a thread a short while ago and noticed that a couple of people mentioned 2 single beds that zip together.

I have NEVER heard of anything like these but think they would be ideal for myself and dh as I am a very restless deep sleeper and I like a hard mattress whereas he is a very light sleeper and likes a soft mattress.

Where do you get them from?
Approx how much are they?
Can you have two different kinds of mattress ie, one soft one hard?
Can you feel the zip join on them?

Hope you weren't kidding, or I'll look a right plum

Rae

I've got one of these. You can get them in any bed shop but they can be quite expensive. Mine was £700 about 8 years ago excluding headboard.

Plus points.....no roll together, can be separated for guests coming to make two singles and is big enough for the whole family to sleep in.

Minus points......difficult to get bedding although IKEA do superking size bedding. I ended up buying single duvets and covers and joining them together. Headboards are not available so again I ended up getting two singles and adapting them to fit.

I would second everything the others say, apart from the bedding which I have never had a problem with, John Lewis do super king size duvets and sheets, and covers and super king size pillows too. I have just ordered a super king size silk duvet. Debenhams sell Sheridan which is Australian, all white, pure cotton, wonderful!

Whilst our headboard was a temporary choice,( cream damask silk padded) we still have it 5 years later!

Ours is a ViSpring and cost £5000, but that is the top of the range, horsehair mattresses and lambswool covering. They do start at a lot less.

We can't feel the join in ours! We slept on someone elses at Christmas, with two single duvets and I think that is better than one large one, as I could have a 4.5 tog and DG a 13,5 tog, but do look a little messy when the bed is made, unlesss you fold them continental style.
