hiya, my 2.5 ds1 has started mouthing absolutely anything and everything and i'm not sure what it means. he's also drooling like you've never seen and is constantly soaked down his chest. i've asked him the obvious, ie. are your teeth/mouth sore and he says no, he's a fairly good talker so i do believe him. it's been going on for about the last 6 weeks but really is getting worse everyday...today i had to turn his long sleeved top up to the elbow cause he'd been chewing his sleeves and they were drenched. then i had to dress ds 2 and when i picked up his socks they were also soaked cause ds1 had got to them first. more scary was last week when we'd been to visit rellies in france, on the flight home he was playing with his beloved car and as usual it was in his mouth and then he turned to me and said "mummy a wheel is missing" i asked him where it was and he said "in my mouth and now down in my tummy" i just can't help feeling it's kind of odd behaviour?? can anyone offer any words of wisdom? thanks.x

Hi - could it be the last molar(s) coming through? My 2.4 ds also puts everything in his mouth and his socks are constantly soaking wet 'cos he takes them off and sucks them - as well as the top of all his t-shirts. I'm sure he's not in pain as he's very verbal and would tell us, but he just likes to stick everything in his mouth! Ds1 wasn't like this at all so we're still getting used to still not being able to leave small things lying around, as ds2 will just pop them in his mouth.

So all in all I'm not sure! Combination of teething and just a 'sucky' toddler?

thanks dottydot, i guess i'm always just really paranoid that it's the onset of something weird and i don't want to be stood there with people saying "oh yes,all the classic signs of xxx" IYSWIM
