We were supposed to be going to the Zoo today. Heavy rain, as forecast, in Sheffield.

Forecast for Chester appears to be dry - is it?

hulababy, forget the weather - go!!!

I was up there a couple of weeks ago when that part of the world wouldn't stop blimming raining! Anyway, teh point is that it was pelting it down, so we went anyway and the zoo was empty. Great, best time to go, and the animals weren't hiding away, probably used to teh rain!

hulababy · 13/08/2006 08:51

All the forecasts online are telling em it is dry there. Not sure DH is up for a rainy day at the zoo though.

So, we are going to head off that way soon. If wet we will come back to the Trafford Centre and do some retail therapy for a while and have lunch out!

It's pouring down in Macclesfield - though I know it doesn't neccessarily follow that it's the same in Chester.

bramblebooks · 13/08/2006 09:13

It's not raining yet here in Chester, but the skies look 'full' and grey. Just come anyway, you never know with the British weather, and so many of the animals at Chester now have covered animal enclosures. There are also two really big covered cafes too.

Enjoy!

biglips · 13/08/2006 09:31

it possibly will be raining this afternoon

hulababy · 31/08/2006 07:56

Okay, 2nd attempt. Friends chickened out last time and we ende dup at The Deep.

DH's day off this week and was due to go to the zoo. Raining here in Sheffield and forecast is not great for today. But what is the weather really like?

If it is raining when you get here you could always go to the Blue planet Aquarium.

hulababy · 31/08/2006 08:02

Only just recently done The Deep (big aquarium place) a couple of weeks ago!

hulababy it is pelting down in Stockport. About 50 mins away from chester. Agree about Cheshire Oaks- it's not far from the zoo, loads of shops and other things to do. Hope you have a good day

hulababy · 31/08/2006 08:22

Trying to avoid shopping. Not much fun for DD. Day off is to go out for day as a family before she starts school next week.

Looks like zoo is out though if raining all day!

Thought about Cadbury's World but forgot yyou need to book at least a day before.

Now considering the Space Centre in Leicestershire.

How about Knowsley Safari park-you can stay in the car

hulababy · 31/08/2006 08:50

But presumably that is better when dry too, and isn't there other acticities that are out doors?

i'm in wrexham about twelve miles away and it's just stopped raining but rain has been forcast on and off all day

Orlando · 31/08/2006 08:54

Chester zoo not too bad in the rain-- I'd rather do it that way than when it's sunny and more crowded than Wembly stadium on Cup final day. There are quite a lot of indoor animal houses and at least you'll be able to get within half a mile of the animals.

Dress up in waterproofs and wellies and go for it!

(We're about 20 mins from chester and it's pouring down.)

hulababy · 31/08/2006 08:55

Oh, can't do rainy days outside. I don't have the coat and boots to start with. I am a town-y type girl and like dry weather Can do cold, just not wet lol!

Trentham Gardens at stoke on trent?

monkey park if it dries up-- but it's all under HUUUGE trees that'll shelter you anyway. Good shops and a gorgeous Italian restaurant...

hulababy · 31/08/2006 08:59

Ah - getting a bit far away for us now. We are in Sheffield.

orangegiraffe · 31/08/2006 09:01

I am not far from chester and it has been raining here, hopefully it will clear up for you.
Have a super day

Orlando · 31/08/2006 09:01

Ah. Am v geographically challenged, but can see that is a long way for a day out.

chatsworth?

hulababy · 31/08/2006 09:18

Chatsworth stuff is outside apart from the house.

Not raining here in Sheffield now, but a bit grey still

Whizzz · 31/08/2006 09:28

Loads of new stuff in the zoo now - new cafe & elephant house. Still raining though

hulababy · 31/08/2006 20:50

Didn't go to the zoo because of the weather. Good thing too as it remained horrible all day not too fara way.

We ende dup going to Quarry Bank Mill, as DD (age 4y5m) loves things about the olden days. She liked the Apprentice's house there, with the school room and the talk about how the children lived and walked. She (and us) enjoyed the mill as well. It was all well worth a visit.

We then headed over to the Trafford Centre - I like Selfridges

hulababy · 31/08/2006 20:55
