Dp came home tonight saying that there was a car I could drive on a provisional liscence because it is a quadricycle. So it would do me until I pass my test and as a cheap runaround afterwards when I am nipping to work or taking dd to school.

I ahve told him that he s talking bollocks and after much shouting he has gone to bed in a sulk and now I have to sleep on the sofa.

PLease tell me I am right!

twinsetandpearls · 08/08/2006 23:51

I think he means something like this

I think the answer is here but I am too wound up to understand it!

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I can't be wrong! I was so smug in my superiority. I have been mocking him for hours.

If I put my finger up his bum and let him think of Boy George will he forgive me!

that first link looks like a normal car to me...don't get it.

twinsetandpearls · 08/08/2006 23:54

Have clicked on the link -- does that mean he is wrong and I am right! [smug emoticon]

nuckingfutjob · 08/08/2006 23:54

TSAP!

I thought you were so proper and now you're talking of fingers up bums

twinsetandpearls · 08/08/2006 23:55

It is described in the blurb as a quadricycle.
On the DVLA website it classes some low power vehicles as B1. But I don;t know what that means and what the liscensing implications are.

oh dear ,sounds like smelly finger tonight

twinsetandpearls · 08/08/2006 23:57

nuckingfutjob lol, I get that all the time even in RL. If I swear in the staffroom or say something slightly risque - which I do a lot everyone gets really shocked.

Beneath the stuffy exterior I am a lager swilling northern bird!

ggirl I think not, I have not found any evidence to support dp wild theories.

i used to live in the tropics where one of \link{http://www.fasttoys.co.uk/300SUVe4Valve.htm\these) was a common mode of transport.

The roads were all unpaved though so i don't know how they will go down in Manchester. Can just see you with your twin set and pearls, kneepads and helmet joining the M6 at rush hour.

Kiskidee · 09/08/2006 00:00

nope, it was one of these

[everytime i don't fecking preview this thing happens]

twinsetandpearls · 09/08/2006 00:00

I can't quite see myself whizzing into the village on that!

OP posts:
twinsetandpearls · 09/08/2006 00:17

grr it is all kicking off gaain now as the Axiam car according to dp is classed as a quadricycle as it weighs 400kg unladen and its power is less than 15kw.

We laughed for a few minutes at the thought of me driving Kisidee's quadricycle but know we are shouting again and dp has slammed the door shut to the bedroom!

OP posts:

No you can't according to this, unless you happen to hold a full motorcycle license

"More recently an EEC directive has been passed, that allows most European member states to drive these micro cars in restricted form without a license. The UK has chosen (at present) not to implement the full content of this law, but has amended the UK version of the driving license to accommodate Quadricycles, the good news is that, unlike smartcars they can be driven by anyone with a minimum of a full motorcycles license - category A/B1 and anyone with a full car license category B. UK Quadricycles can also be used with full engine power to a maximum output of 15kw"

twinsetandpearls · 09/08/2006 10:29

Right so I want to get my facts right before being smug again, to drive ine of those light low power quadricycle cars I need a full motorcycle liscence or a car liscence. THis si so confusing.

Yes you definitely need at the very least a full B1 catagory licence, which is a motorcycle licence. Or of course a car licence.
So you were right, there doesn't exist a car in this country that you can drive unaccompanied on a provisional

MerlinsBeard · 09/08/2006 10:44

i thought u could drive any car with a provisional license?other wise how could u learn?[confused emoticon]

Have u passed your test?

You can mom, but only if you're accompanied by a full licence holder, normally your driving instructor
tsap's dp was saying that there was a car she could drive on a provisional without being accompanied.

airy · 09/08/2006 10:49

Don't think you can ruby, from what I read they come under full car catagory.
