After a period of time thinking about it, I handed in my notice today, without a job to go to. I need your help.

I am looking for a job in sales (I think) or sales training (possibly) or anything else you think might like!!!

I decided to hand in my notice as I have had enough and I need ideas as to what I can do. I have been in advertising sales for years, but would actually love to do something else.

ANy ideas???

Finally had enough!

I have been here 4 1/2 years I loved it for 3 1/2 of those. However Since last year I have been moved onto magazines I don't really want to work on - given the choice of pay rise to move (eg bribed) when the MD had already employed someone else to take over my job. I didn't like that mag, got bored and demotivated so the MD started on at me - with reason, but I felt it was his fault as I had asked him not to move me and asked that if he did it wouldn't be held against me! Then I moved again 2 months ago to a weekly title where there is just me trying to manage and sell a women's weekly magazine that is impossible to do. The stress of constant deadlines means you can get nothing done and it is a vicious circle. MD wants a miracle and I cannot offer him one.

I have been thinking of leaving anyway, I am not sure if I want to be there in 5 years, or even selling ad space in the same way, so when the MD gave me little of no choice eg Perform miracles or you are sacked, I decided to hand in my notice and go on good terms. He is paying me til Friday, plus one months notice and £250 in lieu of commission. I don't have to work my notice and I get teh summer off with my kids

I know I can get a job in London selling ad space in a couple of weeks, but I don't know if that is the right thing to do. I want to change direction, I just want ideas I guess. I don't want to be a field sales person with car and laptop etc, I need to earn good money and proeferably I want flexibility in my job (not much then!!)

Anyone with any great ideas?

BTW CD Justine was the first person I called!!!

Hi Crunchie, I have to say I think the reasons you gave for resigning are quite sensible. Imo you can't give 100 percent to a job if you just don't enjoy it.
How about conference organising? It always jumps out at me as potentially interesting and is always lumped in with advertising sales in job ad sections. I'd imagine yor set of skills would transfer fairly easily.
