Windows help please! Trying to print labels

I've got my artwork ready on a word document and I've gone into 'envelopes and labels' and ensured it's set for the correct labels, but when I click on print it doesn't print my artwork in the right position. How do I make it fit?

TIA

Is it to do with the justification, ie left, right, centre? If so you could try clicking on New Document (in the envs&labels window) so you can see the whole sheet and editing them like a word table. Then if the art is too high on the label, try inserting a line before it, selecting the line and change its font size to 6 or something tiny.
This is a very lowtech way of doing things but it might make you feel more in control (labels are too expensive to waste.)
Of course I've probably got completely the wrong end of the stick hth anyway

Oh thanks dino, done that and got the image on but it's touching the left hand margin of the page. How do I move it so it's in the printable area? Is there a button that will set it automatically for me?

Is the artwork touching the edge of the page (ie, all the labels are too far over) or is it that the artwork is touching the edge of each label?

Try this:

Hold down the Control Key and whilst holding it down press A - everything on the screen should become selected
Press the centering button

That should move the artwork across a bit and might solve the problem!

If it's just the page and not every column you could try dragging the margin along a bit maybe. Make your rulers visible (View) and just drag it a bit. Check the print preview.
If that doesn't work, undo, select the left column and change the justification to centred if that doesn't spoil the image on that column?

Thanks both of you. I've tried both ideas but no good. When I moved the rulers the images moved too. The centreing does nothing.

How much of the label does the artwork fill? Does it look like there should be room to jiggle it all around a bit? Is it only a picture on each label, or are you trying to get text on too?

AlienEars · 02/08/2006 21:21

And whereabouts are you - do you have the Envelopes and Labels box on screen, or have you done New Document from there so you have a sheet of labels with artwork on each one in front of you?

anorak · 02/08/2006 21:22

Hang on a minute I think I might have worked it out. I'll post again in a mo to let you know.

Positive vibes...

OK I have done it! after a fashion...

I kept going back to the original word document and faffing about with the text box and the picture then transferring it to a new doc in the labels bit until eventually it was more or less in the right place.

I now have labels for the homemade wine I just bottled.

Cheers ladies! A virtual glass of wine for you help! Thank you!
