I've downloaded some spoken word books of stories for the kids into my itunes and I thought I had burned them onto a CD successfully. Only my stereo and car stereo won't play them. Dh think this is because we have used CD-RW discs and we should be using a different kind. Is this right? What kind of discs do I need? I'm a bit desparate as I have 5 hours in the car with 3 children coming up and was hoping to gain some peace with story cds!

I think he could be right..and despite working in radio, I don't know why

however, if you can send one of them to me as an mp3/wav i could have a go at copying one for you, as a sort of experiment

usually -Rs or +Rs (ie the record once variety)are what you need rather than RWs. you need to check whether your computer needs - or + IYSWIM. Mine will only do -Rs

You should also check that you are burning an audio CD - your settings may be set to burn a data Cd or MP3 CD neither of which will usually play in the car. On a Mac this is in iTunes preferences/advanced/burning
