but come to think of it my grandpa used to say 'spice' and he was West as well

it's actually a former county now, btw, it's not a county any more

so it must be 'god's own former county'

Tutter, I suspect Yorkshire Day might be a North Yorkshire invention (Dales Diary sort of thing) - certainly hadn't reached Leeds when I were a lass...

Spice huh? Never come across in Leeds, but did come across in Retford (North Notts)
