It's so spooky to see a thread like this that doesn't name someone you (I) think of as MN royalty though - like Misdee (assuming she's not going to visit this thread so am safe to post this )

Miaou · 02/08/2006 22:18

two mentions.....

tis just all too much.......

SpaceCadet · 02/08/2006 22:45

managed to get rtegistered with a dentist since i moved..am dreading going as i need a filling.

ComeOVeneer · 02/08/2006 22:46

WHy? What makes us so scary? I am a smallish blond 32 year old female with a dd (4) and ds (18 months) and wish no-one any harm. Please reconsider this despised and fragile species as a valuable member of the human race.

SpaceCadet · 02/08/2006 22:49

lol COV..i wish you were my dentist, im sure you would be nice to me when i was hyperventilating with fear!..im convinced my last dentist turned to drink after having me as a patient.
naturally tis not the dentist who is scary..but the treatment.(for me)

psychomum5 · 02/08/2006 22:49

gulp for you spacecadet......i know the feeling all too well.

my fear stems from falling down contrete stairs when 8 and knocking out my brand nex front teeth

one got saved, one lost, and had lots dental treatment since.

now only got one main tooth at the front, but the dentist must have done a good job as when I spoke about it to a friend the other day she was shocked as she truly had never noticed....we've been friends for a good 2yrs!!!

makes me feel less selfconscious of it, even if I still pass out at the thought of going.

hate detists....hate em!!!!

psychomum5 · 02/08/2006 22:51

adding quickly not so much the dentists fault.....tis all the drills and needles and flashy things and horrid noisy things.

oooh.....and the gas.....can't cope with the gas.....blurghhhhhhmeant as green sick face BTW!

HappyDaddy · 02/08/2006 22:51

Oh Jesus, dentists. Not so much the dentist but this year I had the first ever dental work where the anaesthetic actually worked! I've had loads of fillings, extractions and an entire row of crowns all with me in complete agony as my nerved just dont get numb. Nightmare.

Quootiepie · 02/08/2006 22:52

that new mumsnetter, Quootiepie, she's pretty OK too...

HappyDaddy · 02/08/2006 22:52

By the way, you're all lovely.

That Happydaddy though, sheesh, what a c**t!

SpaceCadet · 02/08/2006 22:53

my fear stems from a dentist extracting some of my teeth in order for me to have a brace..i was 6 months preg at the time and a bit anxious..then the teeth wouldnt come out and he put his foot up on the chair to brace himself.. i was a tad frightened of visiting the dentist after that.
