any riders out there? I am dying to start riding again (ds now nearly 5 months). Had mildish spd from about 24 weeks and if I'm honest can still feel it in my pelvis when I run. any advice as to when might be a good time to start riding - I am so desparate to get on a horse!

Hi squirmyworm, would have thought that if you still get twinges from running from SPD, maybe riding should wait a bit, though I honestly know nothing much about SPD, but given where the problem lies, I think riding would be one of the worst things for it! Do you feel ready to go again? Depends what facilities are available too, maybe. If there is a chance you could have a quiet go in a sand school or similar, you'd have the option of stopping if it got too much? (Bearing in mind that the last time I had a break then went back to it, I was crippled with my thighs alone )

Check with your GP. It probably depends on the severity of your SPD. I had it with my first 2 pregnancies, kept it under control with osteophathy in my 3rd, but didn't start riding until DS3 was at nursery. Not because of the SPD, but simply because of childcare issues. Prior to starting riding then, I hadn't ridden for over 14 years - so imagine the problem with my thighs!
