Advice on something if poss please!!

DP and I are planning to buy our house from the Council but are having to wait until we have gas central heating fitted.

I was just wondering if anyone knew - we want to do a loft conversion and because we are buying the house would we be able to do this before we buy?

Dont think so. Wouldnt it be cheaper to buy before heated and then have done yourselfs? Thats what my parents did many moons ago then its fitted how you want not cheapest way ie; no trunking along walls.

Are you saying you want the Council to do the loft conversion or that you'd pay for it yourselves? If the former, are they likely to do that? If the latter, if you don't have the cash you'll need to own the house to secure a loan for the work.

Our tenancy agreement says that you can carry out work on the house but that you need permission before you go ahead with it. I suppose it depends on how close you are to buying the house and whether you've had a valuation done yet.
