My DD has only recently started talking properly (she has Sotos syndrome which causes delayed development in everything).
On Monday my boyfriend was going to Wales for the day and my DD had heard us talking. When I got out of the shower on Monday morning she asked where J was and I said at work and she asked where. I told her he had gone to Wales.
Later on that morning, she asked "why has J gone to see the dolphins?"
On Wednesday morning I had to go to work and I take my DD and DS to my friend's house. I had run out of milk - never happened before - so she could not have her porridge. I took the porridge to my friend's house as she sometimes feeds her too. My friend rang me at work to tell me that she had decided to make a cup of tea, went to the fridge but had no milk and said to herself "oh great, no poxy milk". She didn't realise my DD was standing close and my DD said back "don't worry, my mum had no poxy milk this morning either".
My friend rang me to apologise for using that word in front of my DD and my DD repeating it but it is a "one off" and my DD has not said it since (I think to her it is just another word and does not understand the connotation of it) but I did laugh, especially as DD has only recently obtained clear language skills.
