Presents for godchildren, godchildren's siblings, nieces, nephews, best friend's children ...

I was just wondering what other people do with regard to presents.

Do you buy both Christmas and birthday presents for the above?
Do you buy one or the other?
Or do you buy neither birthday or Christmas presents for the above?

I don't have nieces or nephews. My sister buys for my son but I think she spends way too much. I have told her time and time again to only spend a maximum of £40 (and I think even that's too much) but she gets him bagfuls of stuff.

I have one godson who I used to buy both a Christmas and birthday present for. Last year I saw a present he would really love for his birthday but it was more than I would normally spend so I decided to just do birthdays that year. I got his sister a present for her birthday too - about £10 value.

I don't buy for any of my friend's children unless they have a birthday party then I will spend about £5.

I am due to become a godparent to the 3rd youngest of 4 and also the 5th youngest of 6. Family presents at Christmas could be the way forward, just buying for birthdays, or just buying for the godchild ... I'm not sure yet.

I buy for my family and friends. DH does his.

I have one goddaughter who is now a grown up. I do not buy for her.

I am godmother to one of my oldest friends' child. I buy for all three of her children, not just my godchild - but I bought even before my godchild was born.

My other godchildren are twins. I buy for both of them.

I have no nieces or nephews.

I spend approx £10-15 per child.
