There's a nail bar / beauty salon opening across the road from my house, and they are going to do eyelash tinting for about £8. As mascara and foundation are the only 2 items of make-up that I wear on a daily basis, I'm considering getting it done, to cut out the time I take putting it on and taking it off again.

Has anyone ever done this? Was it worth it? I've got very pale eyelashes (redhead), so surely it should be quite effective?

I have mine done every 4 weeks or so. I'm fair and it works very well. I only ever use mascara if I'm going out now as obviously the tint doesn't add volume.

Oh yes, it's fab. I smudge eye makeup in about two seconds, whereas having them tinted makes me feel all sophisticated (I'm a redhead too).

You're supposed to try a 'patch test' (in fact supposed to do this every time) first - get them to dab a bit of dye on the side of your arm or something and see if it reacts in a day or so. If it's just over the road, I'm sure you could just nip in and ask even if they give you funny looks.

Actually, their notice says that a patch test will be necessary 24 hours before - and as you say, as they're across the road, that won't be a big issue.

I buy my own Dylash from Boots (can't find it on their site) and do it myself, or you could get a freind to help you. It's not really that tricky, just make sure you wash your eyes with normal soap and water first and apply a thick smear of vaseline around your upper and lower eye area and away you go. I just wash it off with soap and water after. Really is well worth it.

Have mine done and still wear mascara - but I always wake up and go to bed looking a babe!!

I have very dark lashes so it is not necessary but my very fair friend often has hers done - she looks deathly without her mascara - she does also wear mascara but likes her darker lashes for times when mascara is not practical like taking her kids to the pool or on holiday.

I get mine done in summer or when I go on holiday, to save faffing abiout with mascara, which irritates my eyes anyway. Definitely worth it.
