We are all digitalised here - set top boxes, pvr, the lot. So why can't we get a decent freakin' signal ? Atm I can only have BBC channels, the rest keep breaking up. Radio stations also keep breaking up. I am trying to wean ds and dd off cbeebies as they are turning into little zombies, but it is the only damn channel with a perfect signal ! DP has thoughtfully wired everything so I can't use the analogue stuff anymore.

Does anyone else have a crap signal ? We seem to be in a dead zone here, especially during the summer. Surely they (tv companies) should be boosting signals everywhere as they are promoting it so much.

I can't get my digital to work at all today, don't know why.

podkin · 26/07/2006 14:54

I think the weather affects it - or atmospheric pressure or something. Ours is always worse in the summer

Have you got a signal booster? Both ourselves and my parents have needed to buy signal boosters, my Mum and Dad had to get a new ariel too.

southeastastra · 26/07/2006 14:56

the weather def affects it , especially rainy/thundery conditions. it's a pain, i can't get analogue at all since my aerial fell off the roof

aragon · 26/07/2006 14:56

we get this at times - annoyingly the major channel affected is also the most important one - CBeebies.

madmarchhare · 26/07/2006 14:57

Yep, ours in pants and just about to get a booster. Although, analogue hasnt been working properly for the last few days either.

MrsS, yes we do have a booster.

I used to live virtually underneath the mast at Crystal Palace and got a crap signal then as well...
So it seems like a common problem then - and they keep going on about how fantastic it is...

The two secrets of digital telly that they don't like telling you:

1 - weather causes far more problems than it ever did on analogue.

2 - when they switch off analogue you will need at least two digitial receivers if you want to watch and record different channels at the same time.

podkin · 26/07/2006 17:19

exactly St George - we have a recorder thingy which you can pause live tv and record on - but it has 2 receivers in it.

I think this technology isn't all it's made out to be sometimes...

Plus what about HD tv - will we all have to buy new tellys again in a few years ?
