We have just been told we are moving in 2 weeks and I seriously need to clean our oven! What is the best oven cleaner which doesn't involve a really complicated procedure but which does the job?

this one is pricey but works a treat; also doesn't smell and you don't need to put in too much elbow grease

Oven Mate

I got some from Tesco (Home Pride maybe???). It was about £5 and you get a big bag with it, you fill the bag with cleaner and put all your racks etc in it, to my memory you applied some of the stuff to the inside of oven/ovens and left it for the amount of time it says on the pack. Anyway the racks in the bag thing worked quite well although I thought the whole kit was quite expensive as I used the whole lot in one go (range cooker, two ovens and a separate grill though).

Oven Mate. Beats the opposition dead!

Another HUGE vote for Oven Mate. I bought some a few months ago, on Mumsnet advice. I can't believe it, it's literally a miracle. It's easy to apply with absolutely no smell whatsoever. My not been cleaned oven for about a year, came up like brand new with just a simple wipe off. In fact, I didn't stop talking about it for weeks! - How sad am I?

where can I buy it?Not sure if I have time for mail order

Here It won't take long and it will be spotless in a few hours after that!

PS - I did forget about mine and leave it on all day, don't know whether that had anything to do with such good results, but what the heck it works. Let us know how you get on.

I've tried both Ovenmate and the one suggested by Demented - they were "OK"... but I found I couldn't get the liquid to stick well enough to the roof of the oven to do anything (my grill is also fixed to the top of the oven which made it doubly awkward).

In the end I got a man in! Found a company on the net called Ovenclean and he did a fantastic job for £35 (other Mumsnetters have used companies like Ovenu and raved about them too!) I wish I had saved the time and effort I put in trying to do a DIY job and got a professional in the first place.

(We're also moving shortly and our buyer is a friend,I would have died of embarrassment if he had seen the disgusting state of it!)
