who buys the biggest shorts that will stay up on ds, on the grounds that he can wear them next year?

Same with t shirts - he is 3 and not a large child, but I buy t shirts for 5 year olds!

i buy the slimmest fit i can find b/c my 3-year-old is the height of a 5-year-old and skinny as a whippet. she takes after her dad - tall and thin.

i only buy the trousers that have an adjustable fit, otherwise they'll fall off her.

no my son's pe shorts lasted about 4 years! he eventually grew into them

oh yes, I do. Mainly because I like to buy things from Gymboree which isn't cheap but last a long time. Got to get my money's worth.;) (Ds who is 2.5 is currently wearing a T5 t-shirt)

now that ds can read numbers we can't get away with buying clothes in younger ages that would fit him so he does end up getting clothes that are too big as he i nearly five but usually fits into age 3 clothes!
I even found he was wearing an age 12-18 months top the other day

Yes definitely, DS is wearing several pairs he had last year (1.4 and 2.4)..

I am hoping some of teh larger ones from this year will fit next year.

I bought ds (5) age 6 shorts for school last term - he's in reception. They were to long an irritated the backs of his knees and I had to re hem them so they didn't rub. Note to self - for the sake of £4 buy the correct size to save yourself hassle.

Not that I did it deliberately but DD who's 5 in September was wearing some 12-18 mths H&M trousers as little cropped summery trousers the other day. Thing is they only really fit her in the waist now & the bum is actually still a bit big.
