In case you didn't catch it on the thread I hijacked, how is your little man doing, and how goes it down Bristol way?

Yes, yes and hello to you too ComeoVeneer!

Flossam · 21/07/2006 20:52

Just replied!

yes he is much better. Bristol is good, love the city. MIL even is being actually rather nice atm, phoning every few nights to see how we are, very concerned about my mum. Work was good but have only done 2 shifts this month what with DS and holiday.

How are you?

ComeOVeneer · 21/07/2006 20:57

Hi sunchowder... we have been enjoying the cookbook over the last few weeks. How are you (has dd set off yet?). Floss I'm fine (hot like everyone else) House has been on the market 6 weeks (no real offers) have put in an offer on a lovely place in Weybridge(so fingers crossed). I am heading down your neck of the woods the beginning of August to see my sis and nephew (not sure if you have caught up with the whole of that story over the past couple of months- as I don't tend to see you around here much these days.)

Oh and the name is a play on my profession (veneer - a type of dental work .... and calling someone - come over here). SOme like it some don't but as I haven't been in Chicago since last November it felt a bit redundant using my old name>

I think I saw a bit about it actually, has he only one kidney working? Was very poorly for a time but last time seemed much better? Didn't realise they were down here. Hope everything is still ok.

Flossam · 21/07/2006 21:00

Ah of course, obvious and clever now you point it out to me!

ComeOVeneer · 21/07/2006 21:06

Ok a quick history... born late May, one kidney not working and one blocked. He had surgery at a few days old to unblock good kidney and remove non functioning kidney (so it wouldn't damage good one). Meanwhile they discovered he had antibodies (not the usual anti-d thing you have with 2nd children of mothers with (can't remember the right medical phrases) but something to do with Rh-ve etc. but anti-F (never heard of it). As a result of all of this he became jaundiced and anaemic. Spent some time having photo trestment and potentially needed a blood transfusion. SIS has been expressing so he was tube feed and now exclusively b/fing and no transfusion needed. He is doing great and pilling on weight. Now a happy healthy 2 month old. Had most of his treatment at Southmead and sis said they were all fantastic there.

Aww, thats brilliant. Have heard mixed reports about Southmead, would be my local mat unit, but very glad your sister was so pleased with them and your little nephew has done so well!

We will be in Bristol zoo on the 4th of august if you are free and fancy a day out with ds.
