Can any Spanish-speaking Mumsnetters help me find a quotation?

I am trying to find a nice quotation in Spanish (and then translated into English) from someone like Cervantes or Lorca, something about life, man's place in the world, something like that. I don't know much about Spanish writers, but I thought someone who speaks or has studied Spanish might have a few favourite quotes or poems to suggest. Any ideas?

Thanks twiglett - great sites! there are a couple of possibles there, but any other ideas would be cool too.

Ooooh, lovely whymummy! I really love the Gregorio Maranon one - is he a contemporary writer? I also really like "it is good to live and learn" from Cervantes, but I don't have the original Spanish, which I need.
