Harman, please do not worry! I do know quite a lot about this subject and I can assure you that the majority of 'fortune tellers' out there are charletons. Also, even if it was a genuine reading,it is not an exact science. It is usually more of a feeling than anything else. If you think about this logically there is no way that anyone can be certain what will happen. You make your own fate to a large degree. Perhaps it was only meant to be three but you have developed enough strength and love to support four and there is someone that needs you. Please do not upset yourself about this. I can read vibrations and get feelings about people and I don't pick up anything but fear from you. There is no reason to suspect that anything will go wrong. Do not become over protective of your other children because of this. Take care and enjoy this pregnancy - although it may not be your last!!!!!

neetsmassi · 01/03/2004 09:29

Helsbels - I am very interested that you are a person who can pick up vibrations. Do you do readings?

Helsbels · 01/03/2004 09:39

not really, I am not very confident and don't really like to give people false expectations . Quite often, though I butt into a thread and impart some words of 'wisdom'. I am quite good at picking up on characteristics of people. Also, on the July thread we have had a bit of a laugh predicting who will have what and when, but on the whole, I don't really commercialise on it. If you have a specific need or question or want to know more about it, drop me an e-mail. I can put you in touch with reliable, genuine people.

bundle · 01/03/2004 09:40

none whatsoever.

ragtaggle · 01/03/2004 09:44

I directed an Everyman documentary on this subject which went out last year. I met 20 mediums while making the programme and had every reason to hope that there was something in it as I had recently lost my dad at only fifty nine and was still a bit distraught. Before he died my dad and I set up a 'password' for the so called afterlife. The idea was that if there was such a thing he would convey it to a medium. Not one medium was able to 'get' the password! In the programme I made I left people to draw their own conclusions but in reality my conclusion was that they are either a) Manipulative, devious people on an ego trip or b) sadly deluded that the 'voices' in their heads are spirits - the truth is we all have an 'inner voice' (It's called instinct) but most of us realise that it's us talking not our spirit guide.

Your fourth baby will be fine. I'm convinced of it

Helsbels · 01/03/2004 09:54

I sort of agree with RT. I think we all have an ability and some of us are just more tuned in to it than others. As I said, its not an exact science and I too am sure that you will be fine.

I think they are frauds and charlatans, although I suppose some might believe their own nonsense. PLEASE don't let it bother you. I remember going (for a feature for work) to see a faith healer/psychic who had lots of high profile clients, and he told me all sorts of rubbish, including the fact that I would have a girl baby. Ds is now 2.5. It was all nonsense.

monkeygirl · 01/03/2004 10:51

I also think that they are either charlatans or self-deluded. I'm sure we could all guess something correct about other people we don't know either through experience, luck, co-incidence or some kind of instinct. I once came under the scrutiny of a 'famous' medium when I was a child who told me I would be very ill in the next few years and should go see a doctor immediately. It made some of my childhood years a misery but 30 years later I'm still here, never having suffered anything worse than flu!

Congratulations and enjoy your pregnancy - don't let someone trying to earn their living by trading on people's hopes and fears spoil your life.

momof2 · 01/03/2004 10:58

Harman, isn't she wrong already - as your DH now has 4 children (inc the one due), so how would you losing one mean he only had 3? He would always have 4 or 5 or 6 or how ever many that you fall pregnant with. Well thats what I think anyhow!
Went to see a medium once and she got EVERYTHING completely wrong and also put the fear of God into me regarding my losing residency of DD. Would never go again or hold a light to anything any of them said.

charliecat · 01/03/2004 11:01

I would disrgard it is as rubbish. My best friends mum made her living from reading peoples tarot cards and auras and whatever else and she still does now. Definatly all a farce, and she told people similar things, i dont think its right people doing it and making money from peoples hopes and beliefs. But people do but its all rubbish and i would try and forget about it if you can or it will eat away at you and your Dh.
Noone can see into the future, enjoy your pregnancy and your children.xx

My MIL is a spiritualist and does healing with hands, but she would never say anything like that, Harman.

You could also regard the prophecy as meaning your dh will have no less than, or a minimum of, three children. That would give you plenty of scope for more! Yup, that medium is rubbish.

coppertop · 01/03/2004 11:25

I saw a medium nearly 10 yrs ago. She told me some accurate stuff from my past, and it was definitely not the general kind of stuff. She gave some predictions about my future, including what my future husband would look like and my first child. I had absolutely NO intentions of getting married so wrote it all down on a piece of paper, put it away and then forgot all about it. About 5 or 6 years later I was pregnant with ds1 and found the piece of paper while 'nesting'. The description of dh was uncanny, even down to a description of his tattoo. The prediction said that ds1 would have blonde curly hair which was highly unlikely. I have red hair and dh is quite dark. Ds1 arrived with short dark hair like his dad. His baby hair eventually dropped out and grew back as blonde and curly!

I'm still generally sceptical about mediums/psychics but also like to think I have a fairly open mind. Btw even the medium I saw said that she didn't know exactly how many children I would have.

harman, these people 'feed' on any body language/responses you give to them during your consultation. they cannot predict what is going to happen to you. i understand the value for some people who feel the need to communicate with dead relatives, but i deplore the fact that people make money from doing that. if they feel so strongly about helping people, why not work for a charity? I hope everything goes well with this pregnancy, x

M2T · 01/03/2004 11:39

I have been to a spiritualist group reading a couple of times in the past (for a laugh at first) and really can't see how they could know what they knew from body language! I was impressed.
One of my friends was told she had a black cat sitting next to her the whole time. The cat had part of it's left ear missing...... and true enough that was the description of my friends dead cat!

However, although I do believe they can communicate with people who have died..... I don't believe they can predict the future. Harman, I wouldn't worry too much about it. And I LOVE Most Haunted!

Furball · 01/03/2004 13:34

I don't know whether they can or can't. But read an article where an ordinary chap off the street made up a 'fortune read' and told the same thing to four different people. The all said they couldn't believe how accurate the man was!

motherinferior · 01/03/2004 13:42

I agree with Aloha; they may well believe their own tripe, but it's still tripe.

Former friend once told me she could commune with the souls of....photocopiers. Beat that.

nutcracker · 01/03/2004 13:45

I wouldn't worry Harman. I went to see one just before xmas. She said that i would do well in my college course, hear about a house move in the new year, and be moved by the spring, and that i had 2 children and she couldn't see me having any more.
Well i left my course shortly after xmas, we haven't heard anything about moving, and i have 3 kids.
