Okay I thought "scary eyes" from last week was bad and his treatment of his children, especially his daughter and oldest son was horrendous....

In this episode the mother has given her little boy a bottle of beer!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Am I being ultra-sensitive (MIL is an alcoholic so that may be the case) or does this horrify anyone else? God, ever heard of no meaning no, lady!

I don't know what this says about me but I was more shocked by the ribena in a bottle !!!

What a stupid F cow how can anyone give there children alcohol, diluted or otherwise does the dense mindless self obsessed cow not realise how she is programming her children, (sorry very angry as have personal alcohol issues too!!) And although Dad seemed like a really good one what in heavens name was he doing with them on his lap in the car while he was driving!!!! Does any one agree with me here?

Ahh I must admit I really enjoyed this - I thought she was really trying to do the best for her kids here and really identified with her problems. She did what she thought was best in the end and thats what matters. She didn't want to give up the job, but did. Did wonder if she'd thought about p/t?

Sorry, have no experience of alcohol probs, but there is also the argument that not making a big thing of drink (like the French) leads to more rational approach to it..I'm sure she wasn't letting him have bottles of the stuff.

I felt sorry for the woman as she didnt really seem to know what she wanted but she gave up her job anyway as it seemed the right thing to do. Im not sure shell be enjoying the SAHM bit, but as the kids liked her being at home i think she deserves a round of applause for giving it a go. I think p/t may have been a better option for her though. Best of both worlds.
I thought the dad was fab, minus the kids in the car bit and he would have been a great SAHD and he seemed better at it and enjoyed it more than her. But he didnt say so in the summing up conversation, which i thought was great as then the poor woman would have definetly been even more confused!
The beer, just dont get that at all, theres no need to be giving a kid that small any alcohol of any sort and its not going to enhance his life if he tastes it at 4 or 14 IMO. It shouldnt have really been an issue, she gave him watered down wine nearer the end of the programme and was pleased to have "got away with watering it down" Er hello...

I thought they were a really nice family all round. Yes, the beer and the wine and the driving were mistakes, but I got the distinct impression that once the honeymoon was over she was going to be a lot more sensible and authoritative and not give the 3-yr-old whatever he wanted (she said as much re the chocolate bottle). (I was watching with DD2 (18) and went "WHAT?" at the driving but she thought they were just in the drive??? I'm not sure...but men just don't have that cautious gene as a rule). The baby was delightful anyway but Thomas seemed much more relaxed and happy by the end of it.

I wondered why P/T or jobshare was never mentioned as an alternative but maybe she's just an all-or-nothing kind of girl. (I think finding she didn't know the barstaff after a mere couple of days pulled her up a lot - what a transient business that is - her absence wouldn't matter as much as maybe she had thought it would.)

I don't think they could have afforded for him to give up work - they have an expensive lifestyle to maintain there - MD of Viacom must pay quite well....(another comment of DD2's - "she gets the baby's hair cut at Toni and Guy??????"!!!)

And who was the Irish bloke? Her dad, I suppose, but he looked and sounded like the gardener or something!

I wish they would show follow-ups.
