Puzzle/Quiz thing - please help?

I'm stuck for 1 clue in a quiz thing for the local museum fundraiser.
Example 1901 QV dies in J Answer Queen Victoria dies in January.
Question I'm stuck on
1947 CD creates the "HGS" - tried Christian Dior, Human Genome Sequence allsorts to no avail. Looked through Wiki, Googled & my brain's numb. Figured I'd MN it as a last resort.
Can anyone solve it?

Drat I can't believe I saw the New Look bit & never went any further as I thought that must be what it was called. You're a genius, thanks BR.
Here's a good one that took me ages but I got it eventually

I wish I'd just stuck all 50 on here now it'd have saved me a hell of a lot of Google time & I could have read all the other threads whilst you were all doing the hard work
