Nappy changing

My 2 and half week old DD HATES having her nappy changed. The way she cries anyone'd think she's being tortured!!! It's so upsetting to hear

Shortly after we brought her home from hospital we quickly learned that if we give her most of her feed and then do the nappy change while she's nicely chilled out then she won't scream but'll lay there contented and let you change her.

That was working pretty well up until the last 3 days or so and now we are back to crying.

I am at a total loss as to why she cries. I of course know that babies generally don't like being exposed but why all of a sudden has she reverted backwards?

If any of you other mums have any tips or suggestions of things I can try I would be VERY grateful.

Thanks x

I'm afraid it's pretty normal at that age. Put a towel or something on the mat so it's not cold on her bum, keep the room as warm as feasible, and get everything ready so it's as fast as possible. Also you can warm the wipes up by keeping them on the radiator, or use warm water if you're doing the cotton wool and water thing. NiCU told us to use oil to remove poo (olive, sunflower etc) as it's gentler on the skin than water or wipes.
