...could I have your honest opinion whether a gift from here would be acceptable instead of the usual wine/chocs/smellies etc. The school is a very small C of E school, so in theory it should be OK, but in practice would you consider it a bit odd?

not a teacher but great gift !
Got something similar for my mom's birthday.

Gillian76 · 11/07/2006 23:11

Excellent idea, blimeythisyearsgonebyquick!

You end up with so much stuff that you don't need. I think it would go down well.

Not surrently teaching, btw, but I don't know if that matters

jennifersofia · 11/07/2006 23:13

I think it would be great! In fact - a good teaching opportunity...

hullabaloo · 11/07/2006 23:16

Yes As a teacher you always end up with loads of bath goodies and choccies and wine and while these things are all absolutely lovely and very much appreciated it would be lovely to think that something worthwhile had been done in your name. Also doesn't clutter up your house so all in all a fab idea!

robinpud · 11/07/2006 23:28

YES YES YEs- in fact saw this today in the paper and came on here to do it for the teachers at dd/ds's school!

TwinsetandPearls · 11/07/2006 23:40

I think it would be a fantastic idea, and would save me carting lots of bubble bath and chocolate to the pub at the end of term!

threebob · 12/07/2006 02:42

I'd love that too. We have allergies in our family and I don't drink so probably 80% of what I get is useless to me and ends up being passed on.

I'm a sucker for a nice handmade card though.

apronstrings · 12/07/2006 03:12

ooohh fantastic - in my days as a teacher I cannot tell you how many unuseable things I was given - I would have been soo delighted.
We bought my MIL a goat from oxfam direct for christmas - very similar idea.
I will be stealing your idea in future yearsif thats ok

blimeythisyearsgonebyquick · 12/07/2006 17:40

What a great present - I would have been delighted with it

wavingordrowning · 12/07/2006 19:11

I did an Oxfam one for a Xmas/general thank you present for our Doctor's surgery and it went down really well. We always get seen really quickly now! Personally, think that it's a great idea.
