It really is no bother at all

5 year old and 2 year old .. 5 year old at school 9 till 3.30 .. 2 year old sleeps for 2 or 3 hours every afternoon

Have lots of friends ... do lots of stuff .. currently have 2 x 2 year olds in the house and have ignored them enough to make 2 lots of muffins and be on here .. yesterday DD and I went to meet some lovely people in a park for a picnic

Yes get angsty / bored / frustrated at times .. but used to feel like that when I was working too

c'mon ... flame me .. I'm ready for ya !!!!!

gdg you will have to start training your kids. My DS will get himself up on a weekend at 7 (not allowed up before then) and play for up to an hour without disturbing the rest of the family. And he is a 5yo too. Obviously it is very rarely an hour because generally DD makes her presence felt long before that.

apart from the sad fact that dd & I don't have her dad around, life is ok for me as a part time sahm too . I work 2 days a week, which I'm usually ready for then regret it 2/3rds in to the day . dd loves her nursery and is an absolute joy to be around 99% of the time. I wish I could be more on top of the housework at times but prefer to spend the time, playing, shopping and lunching. Throw in a random man now and then and it would be great lol.

Also love it, DS1 (4) at school and DS2 (3) nursery two days a week - made loads of friends at school, do work for the PTA. Sure hell beats working full time in the city.

Though has its down side - DP coming home on Friday after 3 weeks away.

But know that when DS2 starts school I will need something to keep my mind active and too much of a puritan to hang around at home full time. I feel these are blessed years and I am enjoying them to there full.

I've been a SAHM for about seven years now. It's had it's ups and downs but wouldn't have swapped it for the world. I went back to work, part time last week. My employers decided they were going to swap my hours around so I handed my notice in Monday.
Am now an official SAHM again. That week being at work has made me really appreciate being at home again. I'm loving every minute of cleaning, cooking and even hearing dds squabbling.

custardo, if I went back to work I would be earning the same amount as any childcare would cost - ie, teh 2 things would cancel each other out.

Also, we are renting, we can't possibly afford to buy anything anything in the south east, if anywhere in the UK tbh.

I'm a SAHM to 2yo and 6mo DDs, yes it's bloody hard, sometimes mind numbing but I love it. DP will come home in the evening and be so jealous as I have taught DD1 a new song, it's the little things like that I taught her to clap her hands, sing songs, encouraged her to walk etc ME no one else. It's such an honour to be there for those things in another persons life.

Custardo

I wouldn't know whether your DH should or could work harder, all I know is that we took a huge risk which has paid off and is working for us.
