Excel graphs - argh! my brain has gone dead!

It is ages since I have done one and I just can't think.

I am doing a graph for one of my scrapbooks. I want a line graph/chart. On one axis I want DD'sage is weeks and the other axis her weight in kgs. I have all the data entered on my spreadsheet. So how do I graph it?

My attempts to select the correct data and try it just bring me up a line chart with two lines - one for age, one for weight - not what I want.

select the data
choose an XY Scatter Plot (NOT a Line Graph)
Choose Scatter with Data Points Connected by Lines
On the Series tab check the X values are the age and the Y values are weight

that should get you to where you recognise!

Or do it the sneaky way:

Select the data/cells with descriptions
press the F11 key
you get an instant bar chart
Look for the chart toolbar which should be floating about somewhere on screen
look for the button that looks like mountains (it'll say chart type if you point at it)
click on the arrow to the right of this and then click on the line chart option

not line chart, XY scatter!

(spent an hour at work today explaining the difference to dumb students so am lacking sense of humour here)
