Yes! Woodworm lay their eggs in the wood and the grub lives in it for 5 years. The wood may have already been infected. We are experiencing this problem at the moment. I haven't actually treated my floors yet but I know that they do sell woodworm treatment for floorboards and it costs around £20. I would try your nearest large DIY shop for more advice.

Thanks Pipette, people who laid the floor are going to replace the board and advisisng me to spray the area, I am reluctant to do this as I have a one and half year old and am afraid of toxic chemicals. Read woodworm section at www.askjeff.co.uk. Does anyone else know if these chemicals are safe!!!
