eeewww sea monkeys?

my ds&dd bought a rubberish frog that you put in water&it grows,well it did grow but we have just ahd to throw them away because in the water was 1000S of sea monkeys too,eeeewww how horrid,how do they just form?is it bacteria in the water or something as ive noticed you get them if you leave water in the paddling pool too long too

Dont thimk what you found are the same as sea monkeys.
We had lots of bugs in the pool when it got left all winter.inc frogs and newts! Kids loved it.

These are like the ones we grew once.

The wiggly things you find in the paddling pool, water butts and so on are the larvae of mosquitos or gnats, they're not sea monkeys.

i just wonder how they got there,its only been there a week max,and it was indoors in a bowl

Presumably the gnat or whatever it was flew in through an open window and laid its eggs in the water. As far as I remember they hatch out pretty quickly.

My gran used to have a water-butt in her garden when I was little and it used to get full of them, I used to love watching them. They were fascinating; you could make them drop downwards by tapping the side of the butt, then they'd all wiggle back up again.
