The comments just been made about Alzheimers.

Just run tests? Medication?

I thought there were no tests that could confirm alzheimers until after death? And, medication???

I don't know about tests but I believe there is some sort of medication now (Arisept?? or have I got it muddled up with something else?) that has been one of those Postcode lottery drugs. Some get it, some don't.

Ok, I stand corrected. My Grandad died of Alzheimers 6 years ago.

I think tests can imdicate Alzheimer's is likely but no proof until after death.

My grandad takes Galantamine (sp?). It can slow down the progress but not make him any better than when he started taking it, IYKWIM. V. expensive drug though and only works on some people.

Here's a bit about drugs for Alzheimers . As Clayhead says, they slow down the progress, but can't cure it.

I watched this on tape last night and couldn't work out why the husband is getting away with being such a financial arse. Enjoyed it though.
