Hoe old are your DC's?

I have heard it's not that great for pushchairs, so we went to Howletts instead!

2shoes · 06/07/2006 22:33

dd is in a wheelchair

charliecat · 06/07/2006 22:36

Absoulte nightmare wiht a wheel chair unless you had a family of 6 to share

Jimjamskeepingoffvaxthreads · 06/07/2006 22:36

Lots of tiger deaths (plaques everywhere). Good zoo though.

i think when we went to howlets I got in free as dd's carer. not worried about walking as she has a good wheelchair. are the animals interesting and do they have snakes and stuff like that ..ds is 14

yackertyyack · 06/07/2006 22:38

Don't go on a hot day like we did as all the animals were hiding.......we walked for miles and hardly saw any animals, having said that it is a good day out.

Howletts - fine

Port Lympne - NO No NO. Total rip off (unless it's improved a lot int 3 years) There is nothing to see

Many years ago it was great

Definately Howletts - much more compact (for a zoo) and on the level. The gorillas & Elephants are fantastic at Howletts. There is also a section where you can go inside the enclosure with the Limas - but you have to leave buggies outside as they scare the Limas so I don't know what the case with wheelchairs is.

Port Lympne is really sprawling over a very steep hill. Me & DH were sweating buckets both having to push the double buggy up the hill together. You can go on the Africa Experience which is a jeep ride around the park & you get to see other animals such as giraffes you can't see walking - but you have to pay more to go on the Jeep- which we felt was a bit much. (although after the long walk we would have gratefully paid an extra fiver)
